In the booking system below you select the length and Year bracket of your student or a Caregiver Session. Select the desired day and time slot available, you can also book lessons on a daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis by clicking the “repeat this appointment” slot (you can find out more info on this under FAQ’s). Next, fill in your details, the student’s name and the subject you want taught. In the notes write what you would like the lesson to focus on, the more information you put down for the teacher the more effective the lesson will be especially if it’s your first lesson. Click “confirm” then select your payment method, once paid you will receive a confirmation email and you are all set to go!

A receipt of your booking will be emailed to the address given in the booking.

If you need to reschedule or cancel a booking contact us by replying to the confirmation email. Cancelations need to be at least 24hrs before the lesson to receive a refund. 

Lessons are tailored to each student using the information given in the booking and prior lessons. Our lessons are one on one and not in groups, this helps our teachers really get to know each student. Whiteboards, charts, props and educational videos through screen sharing are used to make the lesson enjoyable, practical and productive. The teaching methods we use we have acquired through years working with different New Zealand schools and programmes and the different ways subjects are taught.

Sessions are where caregivers can book a 30min time slot with a teacher to discuss teaching methods, programmes and resources for the caregiver and ways to help their child with their learning. 

Once the lesson/session is confirmed a confirmation email is sent to your email address with the link for the video lesson/session for your appointed time. You will need to use a device that has both an adequate camera and audio for the lesson, computers are best but iPads can work. When the time comes for the lesson/session click the link given in the confirmation email. We use the popular Zoom communication service and an account is required for the lesson, if you do not already have one it will automatically redirect you to create an account, however you do not need to download the app. Don’t worry Zoom is free and safe and will only take a minute to set up.

Once done you will be put into the Waiting Room. It is important to do this before your lesson/session starts so as not to run into your allocated time slot and that you have both your video and audio on. Once the lesson is over the video closes automatically and will log you off Zoom.

After the lesson is finished your students teacher will write a brief report on what was covered, the next learning steps and a summary which could include accomplishments, observations and possible areas to focus on until the next lesson. Tips may also be given to the caregiver to help the student continue improving by what was taught in the lesson. This report will be emailed within 24hrs on the lesson, a template of what to expect is below.

Is the video stream safe?

Absolutely, we use the popular Zoom as a streaming service and every booking is password protected. You can find out more about their security measures by visiting their website www.zoom.us. All our teachers have undergone background checks are and strictly comply with the Children’s Act 2014.

Do I need to have a Zoom account for the lesson?

Yes you do. This is easy and free, if you don’t already have one you will be prompted to download it when click to start your lesson in the confirmation email. You can find our more in by visiting their website www.zoom.us 

Are my lessons confidential? 

Yes, personal information and lesson notes of you student are private and are only accessible by the teachers and yourself.

Are there any surcharges for Credit Card payments?

No, all you pay for is your lesson/session. We cover that surcharge for you, yay for you!

What if I have to cancel/reschedule my booking?

We understand things can get in the way, if you need to reschedule or cancel your lesson/session please call or email us at admin@tutoraid.co.nz. Cancelations must be made at least 24hrs before the lesson/session time slot for a refund to be made. Refer to our T&C’s at the bottom of the page. Please do keep in mind our teachers put a lot of work in preparing for your child’s lesson so the earlier the better.

How do I book repeat lessons?

Select first the booking you would like and the date and time then select “Repeat this appointment” and continue.

Under “Repeat” select if you would like the lesson repeated daily, weekly or monthly and then how often under “Every” (here you can organise fortnightly lessons by choosing weekly every “2 weeks”.

Next, choose the desired day you would like the repeated lesson on, then use either the “Until” or the “Time(s)” box to decide how long you want the repeats to go for and click continue.

You will then see all the bookings which you can edit if you need to. Once you proceed to Checkout you will see the total amount of appointments to be paid. An email with the link for all the lessonst will be emailed to you once paid.

Can I book different lessons/children under one booking?

You have to book and pay for each type of booking or each student separately. Once you have made the first booking click “Make another Booking” and follow the procedure again but under the different lesson or students details. 

I booked but can’t find the email for the lesson.

It’s possible that your confirmation email may go to Junk or Spam. If that is the case, move it into your Inbox to be able to click the link to start the lesson.
